Most IT content either talks down to you or drowns you in acronyms. This channel does neither. We start from the standards, explain the reasons behind the rules, and let you make the call.
Why this exists
Somewhere right now, one person is responsible for all of it — the network, the servers, the backups, the security — for a school, a shop, or a small office, with no senior engineer down the hall to ask. The knowledge they need exists, but it is scattered across standards documents, vendor marketing, and forum folklore.
The Frugal Admin collects that knowledge into short animated episodes, taught at a careful pace, with the reasoning shown — starting with networking and working through the IT stack. When you understand why a rule exists, you do not need to memorize it — and you can tell a real requirement from a sales pitch.

Who makes it
The Frugal Admin is written and reviewed by Tom Martinson, a working network engineer in the Pacific Northwest, and published by TMBW LLC — Technology Making a Better World.
The animation is drawn by custom Python code, and the narration is an AI clone of Tom's own voice from an open text-to-speech model, generated on his own hardware. That is disclosed on every video — teaching people to evaluate technology honestly starts with being honest about ours.
